All winter I've been sketching in colour and doodling in black and white. Winter doodling, More winter doodling and Stealing the moon. It all began with my lamy pen and free art friday #1, #2, #3 and #4. Now as winter draws to a close, I sense a joining, a blending that I am really enjoying.
Last spring I did a series of photographic posts about the spring flowers Beauty of the Bush. This spring, with an iphone not a studio, I am hoping to go out and see more. Already the flowers are starting to bloom and my favourite of all favourites is the gorgeous Actinotus helianthi Flannel Flowers
With this doodle, I've gone back to an old favourite, graphite. Aquarelle graphite, which I can blend smooth or darken with water. There's something sensitive about graphite, a smoothness compared to ink. I am not sure if these are all I will do or if they are studies for something more. I've done many studies of flannel flowers over the years. What I do know is I love going out walking by day and dreaming by night. This rhythm of creating seems to really suit me.
I will miss the long dark winter nights. Spring brings it's own energy and the busyness begins, so whilst I can, I am trying to stay quiet and letting it sink in. Exactly where it all fits still needs some time to meditate, postulate, percolate and simply to do. To dream, to let go, to unfold and let it all flow.
